Zephaniah

A warning comes to Judah: God is truly angry.

Through Zephaniah, He announces certain judgment, punishment, violence, destruction, and woe. The prophet speaks of a day of wrath, trouble, distress, darkness, gloom, trumpets, and battle.
For Judah, the end will be terrifying because the people have forgotten their Lord.
Yet Zephaniah also tells them what God requires: seek the Lord, seek righteousness, and seek humility. Perhaps they will be hidden from His anger.
God’s judgment is not limited to Judah. He also announces the destruction of Philistia, Moab, and Ammon because of their arrogance against the people of the Lord. Other nations will also face judgment, including Nineveh, which will be left desolate.
Woe comes upon Jerusalem and the nations because of their corruption and pride. God will bring them low so that they will no longer be haughty.
Still, judgment is not the final word.
Those who seek righteousness and humility will take refuge in the Lord. They will have no one to make them tremble. They will shout for joy and rejoice.
God Himself will rejoice over them. He will quiet them in His love, gather them together, and restore their fortunes before their eyes.
Zephaniah makes the choice clear: to avoid certain judgment, a person must seek the Lord.
